Sync'Em Contacts License

Create one sync setup to sync 3 contacts information sources:

  • create 3 information sources of kind Contacts
  • configure each information source to sync bidirectionally (both "to" and "from") or unidirectionally (only "from" or only "to")
  • *optionally, for each information source, configure a filter to sync a subset of content
  • *optionally, for each information source, configure a schedule to control when syncing occurs
  • sync a mixture of the following kinds of information sources:
    • contacts that reside on that Mac — i.e., contacts in a specific Apple Address Book's contact Group** on the local Mac
    • contacts that reside in Exchange — i.e., "personal" contacts in a specific contact folder within an Exchange account (GAL [Global Address List] contacts are not supported)
    • contacts that reside in Google — i.e., contacts in a specific contacts group within a Gmail account
    • *contacts that reside on a different Mac — i.e., contacts accessed via Sync'Em running on a different Mac (these are the contacts in the Sync'Em DB as they have been sync'd by that Mac, potentially from multiple sources)

*Not yet available in the current version. See the product roadmap for more information.

**Any contact entry in an Apple Address Book can appear in multiple Address Book groups (groups are actually "views" upon the collection of contacts). All contact entries appear in the "All" group. When you configure a Sync'Em information source to sync Apple Address Book Contacts, by default it will sync with the "All" Address Book group. Alternatively, you can specify an information source Filter* to sync with a specific Address Book Group (e.g., other than the "All" group). Contacts that are visible in both in the Address Book group being sync'd and in other Address Book Groups will be updated for all Address Book Groups in which they are presented (which is the same behavior as when you update contacts manually, via the Apple Address Book). Google/Gmail contacts operate in a similar manner.

Sync'Em Requirements

Sync'Em requires:

  • OS X 10.4, 10.5 or 10.6
  • Although Sync'Em seems to work with 10.7, we've not done any formal testing. In addition, if you're using iCloud, you need to consider that iCloud is the "master" copy (which is different from previous situations where your system was the "master"). The following Knowledgebase Article may help.
  • Exchange 2007 SP1 with WS (Web Services) enabled (which is the default)
    • Exchange-server security must allow logins/access via Sync'Em
  • Note - 2009-09-15: Microsoft's Extended Protection for Authentication update can prevent Sync'Em from authenticating.
  • Exchange 2003 is not supported
    • if the copyright date on the OWA (Outlook Web Access) login page indicates 2007, then it is probably Exchange 2007

Prior to buying, please download, install and try Sync'Em to verify that it functions in your environment — and if it doesn't, contact us and we'll help get it working.
