A menu extra is a menu that a program places on the right side of the menu bar and is shown regardless of the program that's currently actived/in front. The Sync'Em menu extra presents status and is the menu from which Sync'Em is operated, once set up (enabled via System Preferences => Sync'Em => Preferences =>Show/Hide Menu Extra).
